RTC and CASARC medical providers are Board Certified Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who have advanced training as Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFEs). Our training includes medical care for sexual abuse and assault survivors and forensic evidence collection across the lifespan. Our clinicians maintain membership in the California Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners Association (CalSAFE) and participate in ongoing continuing medical education in our field. Our team provides the medical services for San Francisco’s Child Advocacy Center, which is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) and meet the NCA Standards for pediatric medical forensic clinicians.
Services are offered in the ZSFG Emergency Department 24/7 as a collaboration of the RTC/CASARC and Emergency Department teams. Non-acute medical exams are also offered by appointment for children undergoing a law enforcement or child welfare investigation at CASARC’s clinic on the campus of ZSFG.
