The UCSF Trauma Recovery Center Model

The UC San Francisco Trauma Recovery Center opened in 2001 to reach survivors of violent crime from underserved communities, provide trauma-informed healing support, and break cycles of violence. TRCs use a cultural humility approach to provide comprehensive mental health care, case management, and advocacy. We build trust and relationships with survivors by prioritizing what is most important to them.

Data has demonstrated that the TRC model is both clinically and cost-effective. Replication of the model began in 2013 in California and has been implemented successfully in cities and regions across the U.S.

The National Alliance of Trauma Recovery Centers

The mission of the NATRC is to provide technical assistance, training, and implementation support to established and new TRCs, and to advocate for policy changes that increase funding and support for TRCs. Our vision is a world where every survivor of violence gets the help they need to heal. Our diverse national network includes TRCs that are hospital-based, community-based, and/or university-affiliated.
